Outreachy was the first time I shipped a model that strangers depended on. The lessons were rarely about the model itself.

Two stuck with me. First: a model is one slice of a system; the deploy, monitoring, and rollback story are the other ninety percent. Second: open-source maintainers are doing you a favour by reviewing your work. Make their job small.
